With Reflexology, you get the benefit of complete relaxation, whilst enhancing the amazing healing power of your own body.
Your feet (and hands) are like a map of the rest of your body. The left foot relates to the left side of your body, and the right foot relates to the right side of your body. At the same time, subtle lines of energy, or meridians, run from your toes, to your head, to your fingers, passing through every organ along the way.
The term “reflexology” is relatively new, but this healing art has been practiced since Ancient Egyptian times, as depicted by drawings and hieroglyphs in tombs.
Reflexology is the scientific healing art of compressing or stimulating specific reflex areas on the feet (or hands and ears) that relate to all organs and parts of the body. Through correct application of finger pressure to these points, reflexology:
- Relaxes tension – releases and reduces stress
- Removes congestion –by releasing blockages to normal life flow
- Improves circulation – including blood flow, lymphatic fluid, nerve response and oxygen flow
- Helps nature to normalize body functions –every single body function will begin to improve through regular sessions
- Functions as preventative maintenance for the body – through the ultimate opportunity for health, vitality and optimum functioning.
Any natural healing art works with the natural flow of energy of the body in its efforts to normalize itself. Reflexology removes blockages to normal circulation so that the natural flow of feeding and cleansing of cells will (over time) normalize the workings of the body.
In order for true healing to occur, changes must be made on all levels: body, emotion, mind and spirit. Reflexology is a powerful tool for creating change in the physical body, and can also have an effect on the mind and emotions. Clients who have regular reflexology are generally happier and feel more positive and vibrant, and their spirit is more content.
You are warmly welcomed into a relaxing room, sit back in a comfortable chair or couch and remove your shoes/socks. The atmosphere is soothing. Your feet are placed on a cushion, and your feet are rotated, stretched, wobbled, flexed, rubbed and stroked, to warm up, loosen up and stimulate your circulation. You may be asked questions about your general health, and you are encouraged to openly discuss and reflect on sensations in your feet or body. Then with meticulous deep finger ‘walking’ motions all over your feet, I work every reflex area of the toes, feet and ankles. Your body has the amazing ability to transfer this to every part of your body. A full session takes approximately 45 – 60 minutes. At the end of a session, you will feel wonderfully relaxed and rejuvenated.
Don’t worry if your feet are sensitive, or ‘ticklish’…I am trained to apply correct techniques to minimize sensitivity, and will always work within your comfort zone. Tenderness or sensitivity can indicate that there is tension, congestion, or less that 100% functioning in that corresponding part of the body. It could be telling us about body history, as feet contain a record or ‘memory’ of past trauma, injury, or surgery. We also store emotional trauma in different parts of our body – this can show up as sensitivity in the feet. Reflexology is a wonderful treatment to bring healing to these areas of your life.
Any person of any age and in any heath condition can benefit from Reflexology. The technique is adjusted to suit the needs of the client. There may be some instances when a treatment may need to be delayed, or changed, but because I work with you as an individual and a unique person, the therapy is tailor-made to suit your needs. Reflexology is a complement to standard medical care. It should not be construed as medical advice. It should not be a replacement to medical help.
